  The Interaction between the Banking System and the Real Economy (Part One: Theory and Methodology)

  This article focuses the attention on the analysis of the banking dynamics and the impact on the development of the real sector due to the dominant role of the banking system in the financial sector. The main objective is to derive and argue the theoretical an methodological approach in the study of the interrelations between the banking system and the real economy in a single country and on this basis to study the interdependence and the causal relation between the dynamics of the banking sector and the real sector in Bulgaria in the long and short run, in order to distinguish the basic transmission mechanisms between them and to make a general assessment of the state of the financial system both for the entire transition period, as well as within the two specific periods before and after the introduction of the Currency Board.
  The first part presents an explanation of the theory and methodology of this analysis. The specific results from the recent empirical analysis of the banking system and the real economy in Bulgaria shall be outlined in the second article.

  Banking Competition on the Main Bank Markets

  The bank competition among the trade banks has been analyzed and assessed for the main types of bank markets (deposit market, credit market and mediation services' market) in order to identify the problems and to point out opportunities for their development. The nature of the banking competition is monitored as well as the key factors affecting the intensity. The market share of the leading banks in each segment is identified. The degree of concentration on the respective market is measured by means of the HHI index. The price and non-price competition approaches are studied. There is a presentation how external non-banking companies compete with the banks. The possible trends of development of the bank competition in Bulgaria are outlined.

  Stage of Development of the Social Subject of Labor in the Agricultural Production Cooperatives

  The theoretical foundations of the social subject of labor have been studied as well as the methodological approach in view of the quantitative measurement of its level. The essence of the category "sociological structure of production relations" is specified and the concept "social subject of labor" is defined on this basis. A statistical mathematical model is elaborated for quantitative measurement of the stage of development of the social relations in the agricultural production cooperatives. This model was applied by 110 farmers, members of 10 agricultural production cooperatives.

  Current Characteristic Features and Focus of Corporate Marketing

  This is a presentation of the marketing mix and the corporate marketing policy in the beginning of the XXI century. The latest aspects and trends in the components of the mix have been analyzed. The highlight is the role of the procedures and the quality and safety standards in order to satisfy the clients and to improve the competitiveness of the companies. The idea of elaborating a new "P" (Procedures) in Marketing is introduced and explained.

  Economic Aspects of Public Fertility Policies

  Low fertility exists in countries with widely differing institutional structures. The fertility promotion policies should be implemented by these available structures. As far as possible, policies to support fertility should be based upon a theory or theories of why fertility has fallen to low levels in particular settings. The largest pressure to respond with policy changes to low fertility currently exists in the conservative and Southern European welfare regimes. The specific policies that have been proposed in this context can be classified as follows: a) preventive policies, aimed at affecting the demographic behaviours, and b) ameliorative policies aimed at accommodating or ameliorating the consequences of low fertility, population decline and population ageing. Different studies provide mixed conclusions as to the effects of various policies on fertility behaviour. Policies targeted at an increased compatibility between childbearing and labour force participation, as well as policies aimed at reducing the economic costs of childrearing are most promising based on the theoretical framework and empirical evidence.
